Independent Schools Cultural Alliance - ISCA – Summer Programs in the UK

Day 1: ISCA 2015 has begun!

Everyone is here safely and ISCA 2015 is underway! All our flights arrived this morning and, despite some late arrivals into the airports, all our groups made it to our Charterhouse campus for lunch.

This was followed by our campus orientation, where we learnt all about Charterhouse School, its’ founder Thomas Sutton (the school was founded in 1611), the teacher who may have been the first man to climb Mount Everest, and the schools’ role as the birthplace of soccer.

The groups then walked down to the town of Godalming, birthplace of James Ogglethorpe – founder of the state of Georgia, USA. This allowed the groups to do some shopping and change some money, before an enjoyable walk back along the river and up the hill to Charterhouse.

This evening we had our welcome BBQ, and now all students are looking forward to a good sleep and take a step to overcome the jet lag! Tomorrow we are visiting Winchester!
