2024 Tours & Activities Staff
Your role will be to assist in hosting our schools from the USA and South America. We will tour the best historic and cultural sights in southern England, whilst staying at one of our two boarding school campuses – Charterhouse School or Cranleigh School. Every third day the whole group will stay on campus, allowing us to introduce the students to British sports such as cricket, netball and rugby, as well as activities such as drama, art and dance. During ISCA, sports and activities are a great way to promote the international relationships between the students.
Most importantly, you will be part of a team of over 30 teachers from all over the world, allowing you to broaden your own cultural horizons and open up opportunities for travel in the future.
Job Overview
During the three weeks our staff will lead the tours when we are off campus and run the sports and activities during our on-campus days. All of our staff should be comfortable working with middle schoolers, with previous experience of this age group preferable. ISCA staff are committed to giving our students a thorough understanding of British history and culture, either through the places we visit or through the sports and activities we do on campus.
Additionally, ISCA staff will have a pastoral role in the boarding houses. Each campus has 4 boarding houses with at least 3 ISCA staff in each house. An ISCA staff member will therefore be responsible for the students on their floor, ensuring they are in their rooms after lights out, wake up on time in the morning and monitor any homesickness or pastoral problems as and when they develop. Staff will be required to communicate any issues with their Head of House and the International Chaperone effectively, as well as carry out roles as required by their Head of House, On-Campus Director or Programme Director.
Maximise your ISCA Experience
In the lead-up to the programme, we will be running online training to help teachers prepare for their ISCA experience. These sessions will give you the opportunity to meet the ISCA team, as well as ask any questions you may have.
A global team
The ISCA programme is run by teachers. We understand that whilst a school trip is rewarding and a crucial part of a student’s education, organising a trip is time consuming for teachers. That is why our programme is designed to give teachers support at all times – so everyone can enjoy the experience!
During ISCA we have two categories of supervising adults. Our International Chaperones will accompany their school group from their home country to the UK. These International Chaperones are in ‘loco-parentis’ for the students. Our ISCA Staff are responsible for running the programme on and off campus. ISCA Staff will organise each trip; share history and information about the places we visit; run the sports and activities on campus; and be in charge of our boarding houses.
Insurance
ISCA carries Public Liability and Employer’s Liability insurance. We are also a member of Protected Trust Services. PTS holds parent funds in a trust account to ensure their money is secure and completely protected against the failure of the company and/or any of its suppliers.
