Independent Schools Cultural Alliance - ISCA – Summer Programs in the UK

Parents

my son had an amazing time, learned a lot and developed great friendships along the way

At ISCA, we understand that sending your child overseas is a significant decision. Our programme has been carefully designed to provide a safe, structured and enriching international experience for 12 to 15-year-old students.

For more than 45 years, ISCA has welcomed school groups from around the world to explore the history, culture and traditions of Britain while forming lifelong international friendships.

While the United Kingdom provides the backdrop for the programme, ISCA offers much more than a traditional educational trip. Students develop independence, curiosity and global awareness through shared experiences both on and off campus.

Why Families Choose ISCA

Parents consistently tell us that ISCA provides their children with an experience that is both educational and transformational.

During the programme students will:

  • Explore some of Britain’s most important historic and cultural sites, including places such as castles, cathedrals and museums.
  • Form friendships with students from schools across the world, creating a truly international community.
  • Experience life at a prestigious British boarding school campus.
  • Develop independence and confidence within a carefully supervised environment.
  • Participate in a wide range of sports, arts and team activities.

Many parents tell us the experience becomes one of the most memorable and formative moments of their child’s time at school.

A Safe and Supportive Environment

Student wellbeing is our highest priority throughout the programme.

  • We maintain a staff-to-student ratio of approximately 1 teacher to every 5 students, ensuring constant supervision and guidance.
  • Our staff team includes experienced teachers, activity leaders and pastoral staff who are trained in safeguarding and student welfare.
  • Students travel with their school group and international chaperones, providing familiar support throughout the journey.
  • Boarding houses are staffed at all times, including overnight supervision, so students always have access to assistance and care when they need it.

Our goal is to create an environment where students feel safe, comfortable and confident exploring new experiences.

Our Campus

Students stay at our historic British boarding school, Cranleigh School.

Cranleigh is located in the Surrey countryside approximately 38 miles south-west of London, providing a safe and peaceful environment while allowing easy access to major cultural landmarks.

The campus provides:

  • Modern sporting facilities
  • Boarding houses with dedicated pastoral staff
  • Dining halls providing daily meals
  • Extensive outdoor space for activities and relaxation

The ISCA Programme Structure

Our programme follows a three-day cycle designed to balance exploration and campus life.

Two Days Exploring Britain

Students travel by private coach to historic and cultural landmarks such as:

  • The Tower of London
  • Stonehenge
  • Bath and the Roman Baths
  • Windsor Castle
  • Westminster and the Houses of Parliament
  • Stratford-upon-Avon and Shakespeare’s birthplace

One Day on Campus

Campus days allow students to relax, build friendships and take part in activities including:

  • Football, cricket, hockey, rugby and tennis
  • Basketball, badminton, squash and fives
  • Swimming and athletics
  • Drama, dance, yoga-fit and creative arts
  • Team competitions and the ISCA Olympics
  • Our brand-new ISCA Enrichment Programme

This balance between travel and campus life ensures students remain energised and engaged throughout the programme.

Life on Campus

Life on campus is an important part of the ISCA experience.

Students quickly form friendships while sharing meals, participating in sports and working together in team activities.

Evenings often include social events such as BBQs, discos, sports or cultural activities organised by our staff team.

These moments create a vibrant international community where students learn from one another and build friendships that often continue long after the programme ends.

Staying in Touch

We know that parents appreciate regular updates while their children are travelling.

During the programme:

  • Each school group has a designated chaperone who communicates directly with parents.
  • Regular updates and photos are shared throughout the programme.
  • Families can follow the experience through our social media channels.
  • Facebook page – ISCA on Facebook
  • Instagram – ISCA on Instagram

This allows parents to stay connected while students enjoy their independence.

Learning Through Experience

ISCA encourages students to actively engage with the places they visit.

Rather than simply observing historic landmarks, students are encouraged to discuss, reflect and explore the stories behind them.

Through shared experiences students develop:

  • A deeper understanding of British history and culture
  • Greater confidence communicating with peers from other countries
  • Teamwork and collaboration skills
  • Independence and curiosity about the wider world

The programme combines education, cultural exchange and personal growth in a way that is both enjoyable and meaningful.

A Trusted International Programme

For more than 44 years, ISCA has partnered with schools across the world to deliver a unique international summer experience for students.

Our long-standing relationships with schools and our experienced staff team ensure that every programme is carefully organised, educational and unforgettable.

We look forward to welcoming the next generation of students to experience ISCA.

As a second time ISCA family, we knew what to expect, but our expectations were exceeded once again
