Independent Schools Cultural Alliance - ISCA – Summer Programs in the UK

Day Seven – Campus Day

Today was our second on campus sports day, where the students had the opportunity to try some different activities and broaden their ISCA learning experience. After a later start and a hearty breakfast of croissants, the students begun their first activity session. Alongside football, squash and fives, we had hockey and cricket as our sporting sessions. Students also had the opportunity to try some art and some drama. With most of the students never having tried field hockey or cricket before, we had some fantastic responses and some really enthusiastic participants. The students created some incredible artworks inspired by the beautiful Charterhouse school and surroundings, and their skills in improvisation excelled during the drama sessions. At the end of the day, special commendations and prizes were awarded for great sportsmanship, enthusiasm and improvement.

Following optional activities of hockey (very popular!), football and Kwik Cricket, we were lucky enough to watch a special presentation from Matthew Edwards on the famous bard himself, playwright and poet William Shakespeare, preparing for our trip to Shakespeare’s birthplace Stratford-upon-Avon tomorrow! Matthew took students through Shakespeare’s life, his works and his legacy, of which more will become clear during their walks around the town tomorrow.

An early night tonight for an early start tomorrow, so everyone to bed, ready for another wonderful ISCA day of exploring!
