ISCA Scotland Day Four – Hogmanay 2019
Happy New Year from everyone on the ISCA Scotland program! Yesterday we had a very royal day. First we visited the Palace of Holyroodhouse, the official residence of the Queen in Edinburgh, where we found out about the infamous Mary Queen of Scots. Then we climbed aboard the Royal Yacht Britannia, Her Majesty the Queen’s yacht, which sailed over 1 million nautical miles between 1954 and 1997.
We then went back to the hotel to get ready for a very special evening. We saw the New Year in with style. Everyone came to dinner dressed to impress (including a few boys in kilts) and we were all piped into the dining room by our Ceilidh caller. We had a wonderful 3 course dinner which included haggis as a starter – it went down a treat! And once everyone had finished their chocolate fondants the room was transformed into a dance floor where a Ceilidh band was waiting for us. We danced the night away, learning a number of dances, until the clocks struck midnight. All the students and teachers got stuck in and had a fantastic, unforgettable Hogmanay!
